The JSS claimed that Aupam Chakma, an indigenous youth died
from excessive torture not in an encounter. The JSS rejected the
explanation given by the military and claimed that nobody heard any fire
shot in the 'nine-mile area' on the way to Dhiginala on the night
mentioned by the military.
The JSS sent out a press release by rejecting the explanation of the
Bangladesh military on the incident of killing of Anupam Chakma. In this
press release it was mentioned that though Anupam was captured as a
terrorist but in fact he was an innocent student. On 23rd August the
military from Matiranga zone captured him at around 11 a.m. Many have
witness the incident of carrying the dead body of Anupam in an un-hooted
jeep. This proves that he died from torture in the military camp.
It should be mentioned in this connection that earlier the military and
police force informed that he was killed in an encounter between the
military and the insurgent group.
