BSS, Dhaka, July 19: British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Anwar
Chowdhury on Monday expressed Britain's willingness to invest for
socio-economic development of Chittagong Hill Tracts areas.
He said Britain would invest in initial stage to health, education,
electricity and communication sectors.
The high commissioner called on Deputy Minister for the Ministry of
Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Mani Swapan Dewan at the latter's
Secretariat office in Dhaka.
During the call on, they also discussed an exchanged of views on
different aspects of CHT. They hoped the existing bilateral relationship
between the two friendly countries would strengthen in the days to come.
The deputy minister thanked the high commissioner and said Bangladesh
would welcome Britain's more investment in this respect. The meeting was
held in a friendly atmosphere, said a PID handout. Secretary of the
ministry of CHTA Md Shahjahan Majumdar was present.
