The two anti-peace accord Bengali settlers' organizations,
Sama Adhikar Andolon (Equal Rights Movement) and the CHT Bengali
Students' Organization have called for a dawn to dusk strike on
Wednesday, 9th June. Both the organizations in their separate statement
with common demands have declared their program of general strike
through out CHT.
It has been mentioned in their written statements that the strike is
called for the demands to punish the killers of Fatima, a house wife of
Bagaichari Upazila under Rangamati District who was killed on 10th
April, 2004 and also to arrest and punish the kidnappers of three
pedlars who were kidnapped from Tabalchari area of Rangamati township on
21st May 2004. They also demanded for dissolution of the interim CHT
Regional Council in their press statement.
It has been also mentioned in their press statement that both the
organizations have decided to submit memorandum to the Prime Minister
through the District Commissioner citing the above three demands.
