It has been reported that the Returnee Jumma Refugee Welfare Association
has called off its earlier declared strike and road blockade- program in
Khagrachari district. The leaders of the Jumma refugee welfare
association have taken this decision after meeting the District
Commissioner, the administrator of the district. They have taken this
decision as they got hope from the ministry of CHT Affairs about
continuation of ration supply that they have been demanding since it was
stopped some months back.
However, they have demanded a judiciary inquiry on Mahalchari incident.
By this time the UPDF members have organized a protest rally in the
district town on the occasion of dead anniversary of their fellow
workers Barada Muni Chakma and demanded a judiciary inquiry on
Mahalchari incident.
After making its round along the main roads of the town the rally
stopped at Swanirvar, where the organizer expressed their grievances
against the perpetrator of Mahalchari incident. The leaders of the UPDF
told the gathering that just forming the parliamentary inquiry committee
and making committee for compensatory assessment the real problem cannot
be resolved. They also demanded for a judiciary inquiry on the incident.
In this gathering speech was delivered by Mithun Chakma, Monali Chakma
etc.
