Abduction of Kalpana Chakma - Make probe report public: HWF

Hill Women's Federation has demanded that the probe report on the abduction of its leader Kalpana Chakma be made public immediately.

Addressing a rally at the Central Shaheed Minar in Chittagong on Thursday, federation leaders also demanded exemplary punishment to those involved in the kidnap.

The federation organised the rally to mark the 7th year of her abduction.

Chaired by Samari Chakma, president of the federation, the rally was addressed by its General Secretary Ileera Dewan, Organising Secretary Sonali Chakma, Pahari Chhatra Parishad President Mithun Chakma, Pahari Jubo Forum leader Apu Chakma and UPDF leader Sanchay Chakma.

Kalpana Chakma, a front-ranking leader of Hill Women's Federation, was allegedly abducted from in front of her house at New Lallyarghona of Baghaichhari area in Rangamati district on the night of June 12, 1996.
