Our Correspondent, Rangamati
A 14 years old tribal girl was raped at a residential hotel in the
town's Bonorupa area on Thursday, police sources said.
The girl, a student of class nine at the Bonorupa Textile Vocational
Institute, went to the Aleef market to get some stationary at around
12:00pm on Thursday.
Aziz, an orderly of Aleef Boarding, called her in saying that her father
was waiting for her there. Aziz then took her to a room and raped her.
Some tribal youths rescued her at around 1:00p.m. The girl was admitted
to Rangamati General Hospital and was discharged yesterday morning.
A case accusing Aziz was filed with the Kotwali Police Station. But so
far police has failed to arrest him.
Meanwhile, committee to resist violence against women, Rangamati unit,
has taken the case.
"Probe has already begun", said Monjulika Chakma, convenor of the
committee.
Owner of Aleef Boarding, who is also Awami League Rangamati town unit
president, Solaiman told The Daily Star, "If the incident proves to be
true, I will cooperate with the law".
