30 December 2002, Daily Sangbad (summary from Jumma Net)
According to daily Sambad, a Bangla Newspaper
published from Dhaka, a Buddhist monk had called upon
both UPDF and JSS to come to a compromise. The report
was published in its 30 December 2002 issue.
The gist of the report is: On Sunday Rev. Dharma
Tishya Vikku called upon the Jana Samhati Samiti and
United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) to minimise
the conflict and come to a compromise. He said this
while addressing a huge religious gathering in South
Khabangpujjya in Khagrachari.
Thousands of people listened to his religious address
in pin drop silence that lasted four hours. He urged
them to pray all the time so that all kind of
conflicts are settled by the next Boisabi festival. He
hoped that the leaders of both the JSS and UPDF would
become benevolent and said, "both of you come to a
common platform considering the future of the Hill
people and then take a lesson of peace from Rev. Bana
Vante on the eve of Happy New year."
