Santu Larma demands 'full implementation' of peace accord

UNB, Khagrachhari

Nov 5: PCJSS leader Santu Larma today called upon the tribals to continue struggle for upholding their separate Jhum identity.

He said the tribal people of the hill districts would go for tougher course of action for full implementation of the December 2, 1997 peace accord.

Santu Larma, also chairman of CHT Regional Council, was opening the 4-day 7th National Congress of Parbatya Chattagram Jano Sanghati Samity (PCJSS).

He accused the previous Awami League government of betraying the tribal people by non-implementation of the peace accord. The present government, he said, continued the same 'conspiracy' to frustrate the peace accord.

He threatened to take a tough course for realising the rights of the tribal people through implementation of the accord in full.

Presided over by veteran tribal leader and founder member of PCJSS Amiya Sen Chakma, the congress was also addressed by Sudha Sindhu Khisha, Hangsadaza Chakma, Madavi Lata Chakma, Udaya Sangkar Chakma and Khogeshwar Tripura.
