Two jeep drivers were abducted allegedly by the activists of United People's
Democratic Front (UPDF) from Tarabunia under Kawkhali police station of the
district yesterday.
Police said some armed activists of UPDF stopped the jeeps near Tarabunia bridge at about 8 in the morning and abducted jeep drivers Abdus Sattar, 26, and Nona Mia, 27, at gunpoint.
The jeeps were carrying passengers to Kawkhali from Rangamati district headquarters.
The UPDF activists have long been demanding illegal tolls from the drivers of
all transports that ply the way, police added.
