Two villagers were gunned down by an armed group of the United People's Democratic
Front (UPDF), at West Munaipara under Betbunia union of Kawkhali upazila, Rangamati,
at midnight on Monday.
The victims were identified as Ruila Aung Marma, 48, and Chu Rai Pru Marma, 42, both were the fathers of activists of the Parbatya Chattagram Jano Sanghati Samity (PCJSS), police said.
The armed group consisting of 18 to 20 members of the UPDF came to West Munaipara
village and cordoned the residence of Ruila and Chu Rai at around 11:30 pm.
They called the PCJSS activists to come out of their house. When they refused,
the gang broke open the door.
Unable to find the activists, they dragged out Ruila and Chu Rai to the yard
of their residence and shot them point blank in the head, police said.
Being informed, police team from Betbunia camp rushed to the spot and recovered
the bodies.
Wife of slain Ruila Aung filed a murder case with Kawkhali police station.
