It has been informed that an important meeting was held today (Sunday)
at 10 am at the conference hall of the Regional Council at Rangamati on
different subjects like coordinition and supervision of the activities
between the RC and the district councils (Three Hill Districts),
administration, supervision and controlliing of the various governmental
departments that was delegated to the RC as per the peace accord, legal
provisions for the functioning of the Land Commission and enlistment of
the voters for the District Council election and the subjects related to
development etc.
This is the first meeting of Mr. Santu Larma, the Chairman of the
Regional Council with the chairman of the three hill district councils
since their appointment in the last month. It was decided that the
decisions of the meeting will be submitted to the government as a demand
for rapid implementation of the peace accord. Mr. Larma is expected to
go to Dhaka on Monaday to join in an inter-ministrial meeting to be held
on Tuesday at the conference hall of the Ministry of Legal affairs.
These two meetings are considered as very important in terms of
political developement and future of the peace accord.
